Seoul makes the 2022 CDP Cities A List
The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) announced that it has made the 2022 Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Cities A List by setting an example in climate action and transparency.
CDP is an international non-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage and disclose their environmental impacts.
This year, CDP evaluated a total of 1,002 cities, of which only 122 made the Cities A List. In order to score A in the evaluation, a city must disclose its GHG emission reduction performance, set renewable energy targets, and establish and promote a municipal climate action plan while also completing risk and vulnerability assessments as well as include climate disaster response measures in its climate change adaptation plan.
According to CDP, the SMG scored A as the result of showing bold leadership and transparency in responding to climate change despite the difficulties faced by the global economy.
Seoul, having been transparent in disclosing information on policies related to climate change to CDP every year since 2011, will continue to strengthen policies for climate action and climate change adaptation to lead the international community in climate action.
