The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) will resume public events and festivals following the citywide lifting of social distancing rules. This is a warm welcome after two years of the pandemic that placed restrictions.

The city will kick off the festive return to normalcy with the 2022 Seoul Jazz Festa held from Tue, Apr. 26 to Sun, May 1 in celebration of International Jazz Day on Sat, Apr. 30 featuring many of leading Korean jazz vocalists.

Nodeul Island will serve not only as a venue for jazz music, but also photo exhibition and jazz-related programs. Various food trucks will also be parked around the venue to create an exciting festive mood with music and food.

Moreover, the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture is holding the Street Arts Caravan “Spring” event in various parts of the city on weekends and holidays from Sat, Apr. 23 to Sun, May 22, and the Circus Caravan “Spring” event from Thu, May 5 to Sun, May 8 at Oil Tank Culture Park in Mapo-gu.

The city will also hold the 2022 Seoul Sculpture Festa on Nodeul Island from Tue, Apr. 26 to Fri, Jun. 24, transforming the waterside park surrounded by the Hangang River into a large outdoor art museum where visitors can check out 30 pieces of sculpture on the lower deck area of Nodeul Island.

The city also held a grand opening ceremony for the Seoul Plaza Library, which opened last Saturday and attracted about 2,000 citizens on the first day of opening. The pop-up library will be available for access at Seoul Plaza every Friday and Saturday from 11 AM to 4 PM.

Seoul is anticipating that citizens enjoy these various public events and festivals to recuperate from exhaustion they endured during the pandemic and relieve stress during the citywide return to normalcy.
