Seoul Selected as Best MICE City in the World for the Fifth Consecutive Year

Seoul received the honor of being selected as the “Best MICE City” for the fifth consecutive year. Seoul has proven its status as the world’s representative MICE city, being awarded in the “Best MICE City” category by “Global Traveler,” the business travel magazine, for five years in a row since 2015.

Receiving the main award yet again this year, Seoul was granted the “Quint Award” (the award for cities that have won for five consecutive years) for the first time in the city category.
“Global Traveler,” which organized the awards ceremony, is a worldly-renown magazine that specializes in business travel. Every year, the magazine surveys its 300,000 readers to conduct the Global Traveler Tested Reader Survey Awards to select the best in 114 categories, including MICE city, airline, hotel, duty-free shop, and more.
In South Korea, Asiana Airline was ranked first in the category of Best Airline for Onboard Service and Best Airline for Flight Attendants, Lotte Hotel in the category of Best MICE Hotel and Best Hotel in South Korea, and Incheon International Airport in the category of Best Airport in Asia.
Other than these rankings, Seoul was ranked third as a host city of international conferences for four consecutive years (UIA, 2015-2018). Seoul has also achieved remarkable results in the MICE field. In September 2019, the city successfully hosted the International Bar Association (IBA) Conference with the participation of about 7,000 lawyers from around the world, drawing the attention of the global MICE population. Additionally, Seoul attracted a total of over 180 global MICE events including the 2022 World Congress of Endourology.
Joo Yong-tae, the head of the Tourism & Sports Bureau of Seoul Metropolitan Government, explained, “Seoul was selected as the ‘Best MICE City’ for five consecutive years as a result of the combination of our active MICE promotion policies, as the world’s number three international conference host city for four years in a row, together with the charms of Seoul where visitors can find traditional and modern trends. We will make efforts to make Seoul a global city that lead the trends of the global MICE industry as the infrastructure for the MICE industry expands in Seoul, including Jamsil Sports Complex, the site of Hyundai Global Business Center (GBC), and Magok District.”
