Seoul Metropolitan Government supports emergency relief funds and supplies to foreign cities suffering from unforseen major disasters such as, earthquake, typhoon, flood, etc. in order to minimize property damage and casualties.
In order to start emergency assistance for the victims of the tsunami that occurred in Southeast Asia in 2004, an international cooperation fund was established in 2005 to strengthen the relief fund to support activities for major disasters around the world. According to the regulations regarding the installation and operation of the "Cooperation Fund Article 6 paragraph 2 (Use of funds), we assist the renewal of the cities targeting foreign local governments which suffer from disasters such as, earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, and by furnishing emergency disaster relief funds, supplies, and personnel.
