Future Green Growth Public Space, Back to engage with nature in Phnom Penh

Public space is where everyone is equal. Commonly, Public space in Phnom Penh is known as park or garden. Recently, Green parks or gardens are increasing in popularity that can be enjoyed by all ages as it provides a spot for people to gather and socialize. Park has played an important role to bring people together playing sports, doing exercise, walking and playing around safely or simply hanging out talking to friends.
 
Parks are also a spot of greenery in the otherwise drab cement and glass constructions that we live and work in. Breaking up the drudgery of the urban landscape with some greenery is vital to the health of both the city and its residents, and helps to diminish the noise and pollution produced by the city.
 
After 2005, many of existing parks have been improved and new park or garden projects has taken place in Phnom Penh as a rich green areas to bring more environmental friendly and to improve quality of life to its citizen. Those projects are contributed by national budget, City budget, private sectors and development partners. As a result of creating public parks, the country looks more attractive, has healthier people, and it is also beneficial for the environment and it has helped to installed public facilities such as benches, kid playgrounds, gardens, exercise equipments and so on

In order to achieve the future vision for Green Growth, PPCH has implemented the creation of  green surface areas plan by constructing 82 gardens with a total surface area of 645989 square meters and plantation of tress along the roads in order to absorb carbon dioxide in the atmosphere emitted by exhaust from vehicles, factories, and enterprises.
