Complete renovation of Seoul Trail (156 km)
- Seoul Trail to undergo renovation and re-open in April with 8 newly repaired courses and facilities
The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) announced the complete renovation of Seoul Trail this spring to ensure citizens can safely and easily complete the trail courses. The city will begin renovating trail courses and repairing trail facilities in January to ensure full-scale operation of the newly renovated Seoul Trail by April.
Seoul Trail is being completely renovated to attract visitors from around the world. The courses, with an average length of 20 km, will be subdivided to make them easier to complete. Elevated walking paths and lookouts will also be built in four locations along the trail for viewing the forest and taking time to rest.
In addition, a comprehensive information sign and a stamping station will be installed at each starting point to guide visitors, and smart surveillance cameras will also be installed at major trail entrances to ensure citizens can enjoy the trails with peace of mind.
On Dec. 1, 2023, the 60,000th person completed Seoul Trail since its opening in 2014, demonstrating its steady rise in popularity. However, the city expressed that the complete renovation by subdividing the 20 km courses comes in consideration of the heightened importance placed on integrating tourism resources as well as revitalizing public interest in and wider use of Seoul Trail.
