The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) announced the multilingual service rollout of its Seoul Ansimi app starting Oct. 1. The service will be available in English, Chinese and Japanese for international residents and tourists to safety navigate their way to their destination.

The Seoul Ansimi app is a municipal public service designed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and districts (i.e. CCTV control centers). The app is connected to over 70,000 surveillance cameras installed all over the city, and the CCTV control centers monitor in real time to assist users, including females and single-person households, to return home safely.

Users can select their desired language to change the UI of the app. The menu features various functions, namely the SOS button to signal for help, and district CCTV control centers receive users’ locations via GPS and monitor real-time surveillance footage to quickly respond through a three-way call with an interpreter.
