Mayor Oh Se-hoon markets Seoul tourism in Ho Chi Minh City

Mayor Oh Se-hoon launched a Seoul tourism sales campaign to target the Vietnamese tourism market, which shows high interest in Korean popular culture, beauty, and fashion.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) and the Seoul Tourism Organization (STO) held a briefing session called Soulful Seoul Night for the travel industries in Seoul and Ho Chi Minh City on Wed, Aug. 3 at Lotte Hotel Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City.

Soulful Seoul Night served as an event to signal the resumption of tourism in Seoul, which has suffered a long downturn due to the pandemic. The session was decorated with the theme of a picnic on the Hangang River with grass turf flooring against the night sky on the wall.

Here, the city introduced various new tourist attractions and festivals to be held in Seoul later in the second half of the year, such as Seoul Beauty Month. The session also discussed the 2022 Seoul International Travel Mart, where 10 Seoul-based tourism agencies and 50 local travel agencies will participate in business consultations for the development of Seoul’s tourism packages and products.

In particular, Mayor Oh appointed the Vietnamese national football team’s manager Park Hang-seo, who emerged as a Vietnamese football hero, as a global ambassador for Seoul tourism at the briefing session.

Mayor Oh said that Vietnamese citizens’ affection for Korea and Seoul increased thanks to Park’s incredible efforts, and requested that he takes the lead in promoting Seoul to bridge the gap between Seoul and Vietnam.

Following Ho Chi Minh City, Seoul continued its tourism marketing by holding another briefing session in Malaysia on Fri, Aug. 5.
