Winter cold snaps often cause water meters to freeze and burst. So, where are the most vulnerable regions and which types of housing would need effective preventive measures? SMG has just released a policy map on water gauge freezing to come up with some answers. The city’s analysis conducted on 12,920 cases of frozen water meters from 2012 to 2013 utilizing the GIS technology has made this possible. The big data technology will continue to apply for the city’s policymaking and information offerings for citizens.
