- The program is designed to disseminate Seoul’s “Going Together with the Socially Neglected” policies around the world and share the city’s expertise in urban railway construction and operation.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) hosted a training program for overseas urban railway officials from Sun, Oct. 27 to Sat, Nov. 2, to showcase the city’s advanced transport systems and urban railway policies and strengthen international cooperation and exchange, the city government said. For the event, the SMG invited key urban railway policymakers from major cities across four countries on three continents: Asia, North Africa, and South America.
The invited participants consist of policymakers from key institutions involved in the planning, construction, and operation of railways in major cities of their respective countries, who were recommended by the related Korean businesses and selected based on their expertise and experience. The review committee chose Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia, São Paulo in Brazil, Rabat in Morocco, and Jakarta in Indonesia for their high potential to resolve transportation issues and significantly improve the quality of life for residents facing transportation challenges.
Aligned with Seoul’s policy of “Going Together with the Socially Neglected,” the program will introduce Seoul’s expertise in urban railway planning, construction, and operation management systems. The participants will also visit sites under construction and train car manufacturers to share practical experiences. Additionally, the program will see the participants discussing ways to promote cooperation and exchange in urban railway development between the participating countries and cities.
