Hangang Parks to Become Vibrant ‘Open Urban Galleries’ with Sculpture Exhibitions
- Free 2024 Hangang ‘Heung’ Sculpture Touring Exhibition to be held from April to November across ten Hangang Parks
This year, Hangang Parks turn into ‘Open Urban Galleries.’ From Thu, Apr. 4 to November, all citizens strolling along the Hangang River will be able to enjoy for free the view of the river accentuated by the colorful sculptures installed throughout Hangang Parks.
Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) announced that it will host the 2024 Hangang ‘Heung’ Sculpture Touring Exhibition to help citizens enjoy culture and art in everyday life.
Four exhibitions are scheduled this year, featuring approximately 300 sculptures (30 per park). The exhibition’s theme is ‘Sculpting Seoul,’ as the Touring Exhibition aims to turn the entire Hangang River into a piece of sculpture.
The city hopes to turn the Hangang Parks, which have been considered places for walking and picnics, into open urban galleries where citizens can have new experiences in their daily lives and treat their eyes to the view of the Hangang River enhanced by the eye-catching sculptures.
