  • Integrated support from evaluation to consulting and education for reorganization of evaluation criteria
  • Raising publicness and securing transparency of accounting in new and re-evaluating childcare centers
  • Graded educational programs including accounting, labor, and childcare program to increase the quality of childcare services

The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) will lower the barriers to entry and further advance transparency and publicness of Seoul Childcare Centers as the representative public childcare brand of Seoul.

In order to create childcare centers where all children, parents, and teachers can be happy, the city announced that it will prepare and operate a comprehensive supporting system that covers evaluation, consulting, and education starting from this month.

The key of this change is to improve its integrated support to raise the publicness of childcare centers related to evaluation criteria for official approval as Seoul Childcare Center, while at the same time strengthening consulting and education to increase quality of the childcare service.

Based on the reorganized procedure, mandatory consulting of new daycare centers for field evaluation and childcare centers for re-evaluation will be commenced from this June. By completing the integrated supporting system regarding evaluation-consulting-education that is unique to Seoul Daycare Centers, it is expected that the centers will be able to raise its status as a representative public childcare brand that ensures publicness and adapts to the rapidly changing childcare environment.

“Seoul Childcare Center” is the representative public childcare brand of Seoul that ensures quality of childcare service by raising publicness of private daycare centers up to national level. It was first introduced in 2009 by Mayor Oh Se-hoon to strengthen public childcare services. By annually selecting private and domestic childcare centers that satisfy certain evaluation standard, the city supports personnel expenses and operational costs to induce employment of high quality teachers and increase transparency of accounting to improve general childcare service.
