Public space regeneration and city rehabilitation project in Budapest

 
The Municipality of Budapest announced a tender for complex renewing the city’s public spaces and accomplishment of common city rehabilitation programs. The participants could be the municipalities of the districts cooperation with local citizens and civil organizations.
 
The project aimed to improve the city view, make it more sustainable for the future generations and positively impact on the social processes. It can also encourage the appearance of new economical and social functions. The unused areas and buildings can create new opportunities for the citizens to enjoy the life in the city. The cooperation between the local government and the civic can strengthen, and the results are more acceptable and suitable for the citizens. The creative and innovative ideas can be utilized in long term.
 
In the frame of the tender the Municipality of Budapest shared more than 5 billion Hungarian Forints. The Municipality of Budapest selected 29 projects from the proposals. The chosen projects contain the recovery of parks, memorials, playgrounds and also the renewal of old buildings in the districts. The renewal of the old buildings can create new jobs, and economical activities too for the local residents. The new public spaces can offer better atmosphere for the citizens and tourists.
