Expansion of kid-friendly zones to 500 locations
Since the start of the program last December, the city has designated a number of business establishments as kid-friendly zones, garnering a positive response from parents who go out with their kids. As its name suggests, kid-friendly zones welcome patrons to comfortably visit with their kids.
The city has distributed special “kid-friendly zone” stickers to business establishments that have joined the program. These stickers are placed on entrances, allowing patrons to identify kid-friendly zones at a glance and enjoy kid-friendly amenities such as highchairs, toddler utensils, and kids menus.
In just a month into the program, a total of 349 business establishments have been designated as kid-friendly zones, and various foodservice businesses and franchises have since expressed their willingness to actively participate in the program.
In line with the city’s Happy Parents Project, many parents expressed their happiness. Some of the positive response included, “It’s great to be able to check which restaurants are designated as kid-friendly zones and comfortably dine out without worrying about the service,” and “I think this program is a great catalyst to improving the social perception of parenting.”
Seoul plans to expand the number of kid-friendly zones to 500 locations this year and to 700 locations by 2026, owing thanks to the active participation of business establishments and the positive response from parents.
