Title : Special proposal by Seoul, the host city of ICLEI World Congress 2015 Survey on policy demand for urban solutions

Ahead of the ICLEI World Congress 2015, to be held from 8 to 12 of April 2015 in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, the Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) and the ICLEI World Secretariat would like to conduct a survey on policy demand, so as to accelerate solutions to urban environmental issues.

Having grown into a megacity from the ashes of the 1950 Korean War, Seoul has innovatively responded to a wide range of challenges including, but not exclusive to, energy issues, air pollution, sustainable water supply, and waste management.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government wishes to share their experience and knowledge internationally. Cities all over the world are facing urban challenges, and Seoul is a position to provide practical support. The Global Cities Policy Share Program emphasizes co-prosperity amongst cities, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government is eager to contribute to this process.

To any cities interested in cooperation with Seoul, the SMG plans to provide support through the following mediums:

∙ Assistance in the development of basic environmental and sustainability plans
∙ Learning opportunities by city-to-city visitation
∙ Policy advice and/or consulting
∙ Seminars and/or workshops
∙ Support for importing products required for addressing urban problems
∙ Facilitating connections between cities interested in introducing new technologies with buyers and/or relevant businesses
∙ Others (to be determined)

In order to most effectively determine how and in which fields your city and the Seoul Metropolitan Government can collaborate, please complete the following survey.
